NGV Motori announced on September 25th that it has received CARB approval for its 7.6 L DT 466 CNG engine.
(Dallas, Texas & Plainfield, New Jersey, September 25th, 2017) Sunny DeWakar, CEO of NGV Motori, USA issued a statement confirming the CARB approval of its dedicated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) retrofit system for installation on 2010 model year Navistar, Inc 7.6L medium Heavy-duty diesel engine.
EPA approved the NGV Motori DT 466 natural gas engine earlier in 2017. Receiving the California approval is an important landmark due to the engine’s popularity in the school/transit and delivery truck market. “This is the first aftermarket NG engine, available for current fleet owners in all 50 States and addresses a rapidly expanding demand for vehicles powered by clean natural gas,” stated Fury Zaidi, President of NGV Texas. “We are now also offering completely refurbished certified preowned CNG school buses using the NGV Motori zero-mile NG engine for our school bus fleets at Half the price of a new CNG school bus. This is a game changer for those schools that may not have the financial ability to buy new CNG buses and now can still participate in upgrading their fleets at half the cost”, says Zaidi.
The EPA and CARB certified engines will reportedly reduce older engine nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 90 percent as well as particulate and carbon dioxide levels. Currently NGV Motori engine meets the NOx levels at 0.2. “NGV Motori is already working to bring to market their next version of this engine with a Near Zero NOx and it will be submitted for approvals by EPA and CARB within a year,” says DeWakar. The company wants to have a new zero NOx engine that will compliment our current offerings and are working closely with our Fleet partners to test and gather data.
