City of Charlottesville Announces Availability of First DC Fast Electric Vehicle Chargers
Charlottesville, VA – Oct. 14, 2015 — City of Charlottesville and Virginia Clean Cities are proud to announce the installation of the first publicly-available, DC Fast Chargers in the City. New charging stations in Charlottesville include three DC Fast Chargers (full charge in as fast as 30 minutes). Charging station locations include Homewood Suites on Route 29 N, 1st St N & Market St Parking Lot adjacent to the Downtown Mall and the Water Street Parking Lot.
Partially funded through the City’s EV Charger Mini-Grant Program (www.charlottesville.org/cityEVnetwork), these charging stations address a critical regional transportation need by connecting Charlottesville to all points north, south and east. This initiative shows the commitment of City of Charlottesville, Virginia Clean Cities and local businesses to the most cutting-edge vehicle technologies, cleaner air and environmental sustainability.

This opening is accompanied by Virginia Clean Cities’ announcement of the immediate availability of 22, publicly-available, DC Fast Chargers. This represents the largest single deployment of DC Fast Charging infrastructure in the history of the Commonwealth. These DC Fast Chargers are now operational from Downtown Staunton to Central Virginia and on to the Virginia Beach oceanfront, enabling owners of electric vehicles to travel from the Shenandoah Valley to the beach while re-charging their vehicles quickly and conveniently.
