9:30-11:00a – Biofuels panel – Joel Stone, ConVergInce LLC, moderator.
Premise: A business uses biomass to produce liquid fuel, or is processing fuel from bio-based waste materials.  What are the challenges he will face developing and meeting market demands?

a. The ethanol blending wall – EPA progress
b. Quality standards in biodiesel
c. Distribution infrastructure
d. Payment of Fed and State road taxes for on road use
e. Effect of tax credits and incentives on pricing.
f. Effect of oil prices on markets.

11:00-11:15a – Break

11:15-12:45p – Biopower panel – Robert Sandy, Alten LLC, moderator.

Premise: A developer builds a plant that is ready to produce electricity.  What does it take to deliver this power to the paying customer?  How can he monetize his entire output (thermal and power)?

a. SCC issues – Rates, PURPA, public interest, definitions of renewable energy.
b. Utility Issues- hook-ups, prices, rates, capacity payments
c. Jurisdictional customers – capacity costs, net metering
d. What other revenue streams are available (RECs, CCE, etc)
e. What other markets might be available outside Virginia, how are they accessed?
f. Special challenged in methane gas production & utilization?

From Tidewater/Richmond/Charlottesville

Take I-64 W toward Charlottesville/Waynesboro
Take Exit 91, Fishersville/Staunton, VA-285/S.R. 608/Tinkling Spring Rd.
Turn Left off the Ramp onto S.R. 608 and cross the overpass
Take 1st Right onto Expo Road, just past the McDonalds (on the right) & Sheetz (on the left)
Expo Road arcs around and comes to a 90° right angle after Ferguson Enterprises; follow the 90° turn to the Expoland grounds.

From Southside

Depending on which is closer:
Take either VA-20 N. to I-64 W near Charlottesville or VA-29 N. to I-64 W near Charlottesville and follow directions from Tidewater from there.

From Harrisonburg/Winchester
Take I-81 S toward Staunton
Take Exit 221, I-64 E toward Richmond/Charlottesville
Take (first) Exit 91, Fishersville/Staunton, VA-285/S.R. 608/Tinkling Spring Rd. (**more directions below)

From Roanoke/Blacksburg
Take I-81 N toward Staunton
Take Exit 221, I-64 E toward Richmond/Charlottesville

From Northern Virginia
Take I-66 W toward Front Royal
Take Exit 1A, I-81 S toward Harrisonburg/Staunton/Roanoke
